A digital solution for the latest in makeup, skincare and haircare products!App allows to virtually try on favourite shades of cosmetic products that helps to pick favourite colours. With the app, users enter prompts to receive dream look to capture pictures, Explore curated videos on beauty app to discover the latest trends, learn viral hacks and shop must-haves.

Desk Research
Conducted desk research based on the material published in reports and similar documents that are available in websites, data obtained from surveys are as follow:
  • According to Epsilon research, around 80% of clients would buy from brands offering personalized products.
  • Global artificial intelligence (AI) is rising in the beauty industry, with an expected compound growth rate of almost 20% annually.
  • According to Shopify analytics, about 70% of buyers return the items purchased as they haven't met their preferences and expectations.
  • Choosing the wrong shade of cosmetic product can be one of the main reasons for returns. Online shopping can't boast of high rates. About 21% of products bought online are returned in the U.S. alone.
  • The dream of every marketer and product manager is to see the growth of success and sales metrics.Research shows retailers who use AI and AR get a 20% higher engagement rate.
  • What's more, the revenue per visit grows by 21%, and the AOV is 13% higher. In addition, 45% of buyers admitted that AR and AI cut their time and effort in making decisions.

  • What are the top cosmetic apps currently available, and what features do they offer?
  • How do these apps engage and retain their users?
  • What are the most common user complaints about competitor apps?
  • What are the latest trends in the cosmetic industry that could influence app features (e.g., clean beauty, AR technology)?
  • How are cosmetic brands leveraging technology to enhance customer experience?
  • Study competitors like Gucci and Nars are among the cosmetic brands that are already dabbling in this new arena so after downloading apps observe how they are come into innovative picture.
Qualitative Research
Firstly I studied - Who are the primary users of cosmetic apps (age, gender, location, income level)?I interviewed those users over phone calls to understand the challenges they face while buying cosmetic and skin products. A few sample questions are as follow:
  • How frequently you shop for cosmetics online vs. in-store?
  • What are the common sources of information you rely on for cosmetic product recommendations (social media, blogs, friends, etc.)?
  • How important is it for you to have access to professional advice or tutorials within the app?
  • What are the pain points you experience with current cosmetic apps or websites?
  • How much time do you typically spend on cosmetic apps per session?
  • What times of the day do you most frequently engage with cosmetic apps?
  • What percentage of you make purchases directly through the app vs. browsing and then purchasing in-store?
Define phase
With the data collected from the interviews and initial research, I created a persona representing an ideal user of the application. The persona helped me arrive at better solution as it gave an in depth understanding of the user goals and frustrations and the overall personality.
Empathy map
This process was done to define target audience with more clarity, as well as illustrate their needs and actions. Empathy mapping helped me to gain perspective on their thoughts and feelings. The data in the empathy app are based on insights from user interviews.

I believe that generative AI can reshape how beauty enthusiasts perceive, experience and embrace makeup. With generative AI, the makeup experience can transcend the routine, combining artistry and innovation.

App can decode the makeup look and tailor it for customers in line with shopping preferences.

Elevating The Makeup Experience With Generative AI

  • Create custom cool look just by typing some text and based on result look automatically get caption.
  • Take a celebrity makeup look: Generative AI can be used as a virtual beauty guide in which it creates a similar look, delves into makeup artistry and reveals techniques and shades. You can share same looks on social media or maybe use for marketting.
  • Also, user can refreshed caption if she wants to explore
